If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you can’t truly step into the future while dragging along the weight of a past that no longer fits. For me, this name change and rebrand isn’t about pretending the past didn’t happen—it’s about owning my story, choosing what I carry forward.
Why This Matters
Names hold power. They carry history, identity, and sometimes scars. Changing mine is not about erasing - it’s about reclaiming. It’s about saying: this is who I am now, and this is the life I am building for myself and my family.
Brené Brown says, “You either walk inside your story and own it, or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness.” For a long time, I stood outside, trying not to explain my experiences.
This rebrand is me walking inside my story, without apology.
What’s Shifting
Identity: A new name that reflects the woman I’ve become - resilient, grounded, and unafraid to claim her space.
Voice: Messaging and presence that are no longer about shrinking or softening, but about clarity, courage, and connection.
Mission: A renewed focus on what I value most - family, advocacy, and leadership built on honesty and integrity.
What Stays the Same
I’m still me. I’m still direct, passionate, and unwilling to compromise on the things that matter the most. What’s different is that I’m no longer hiding behind what’s comfortable. Vulnerability is messy, but it’s also the birthplace of strength.
The Road Ahead
This rebrand isn’t about creating a polished version of myself or going from Martinez to Smith - it’s about showing up fully, with the grit, the scars, and the hope that come with the journey. It’s about modeling for my children, my clients, and my community that it’s never too late to share your narrative and experiences.
